Meanwhile in the US the far right in true terrorist fashion are trying to recruit mothers and children to use as human shields for their "trucker protests."

 

Conservative provincial governments have painted themselves into a corner. Do they scrap mandates and risk overrunning their hospitals? How to satisfy their base? Some Premiers have played fast and loose and been bitten once already.
Others have done not too badly and know it’s better to open slowly but that risks alienating their voters.
Blockades at the border crossings are harming their biggest manufacturers and producers? Hillbilly protesters are crying about their freedom. Oh my whatever will the Conservatives do?

CNN analyst Juliette Kayyem hastily backtracked her Thursday call for Canadian truckers participating in the protests against the Liberal government's coronavirus policies to have their tires slashed.

"Earlier today, I tweeted something that has been used by others to suggest I was promoting vigilantism. I was not. People have the freedom to protest. Governments have the responsibility to protect public safety. That was what I intended to say," Kayyem tweeted late Thursday evening.

Earlier in the day, Kayyem railed against the truckers, declaring their protest an "economic and security issue," and calling for them to be stopped.

"The convoy protest, applauded by right wing media as a 'freedom protest,' is an economic and security issue now. The Ambassador Bridge link constitutes 28% of annual trade movement between US and Canada. Slash the tires, empty gas tanks, arrest the drivers, and move the trucks," she tweeted that morning.

The former Obama administration official initially doubled down on her extreme calls for action against the truckers.

"Trust me, I will not run out of ways to make this hurt: cancel their insurance; suspend their drivers licenses; prohibit any future regulatory certification for truckers, etc. Have we learned nothing? These things fester when there are no consequences," she wrote.

The truckers' protests brought together thousands of Canadians in the capital city of Ottawa to protest the country's COVID-19 vaccine mandate and other restrictions, which several provinces have now agreed to ease.


Prime Minister, and leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau has yet to meet with the protestors who have described his reaction to their protests as vilifying them.

"People of Ottawa don't deserve to be harassed in their own neighborhoods, don’t deserve to be confronted with the inherent violence of a swastika flying on a street corner or a confederate flag or the insults and jeers just because they're wearing a mask. That's not who Canadians are," Trudeau said Monday in the House of Commons.

 

In the end, it's going to be fun to watch snot nose Trudy pout with the bonus of ending these over reaching useless Covid mandates.

GiveSendGo Tells Canadian Officials What to Do With Their Order Stopping Donations to the Freedom Convoy

As RedState reported last night, the Ontario government garnered an order from a judge barring donations through GiveSendGo to the Freedom Convoy in Canada. That came after GoFundMe shut down a fundraiser meant to support the effort, forcing donors to another platform.

In a refreshing development, GiveSendGo, a Christian-based fundraising site, has responded the right way. Instead of kowtowing to the dictates of out-of-control authorities, they are telling these Canadian officials what they can do with their order.

Without trying to analyze all the legal ins and outs here, the idea that an order from a single province in Canada could universally criminalize donating to a site based in the United States never made any sense. Perhaps Ontario officials could go after individual donors within their jurisdiction, but even that seems highly questionable.

Of course, the practical aspects of this are even more detrimental to the government’s order. I highly doubt Ontario has the resources to forensically track every person who is donating to GiveSendGo, and you can bet the company isn’t going to give up that information voluntarily. In the end, the entire gambit comes across as a weak and desperate attempt to stop a movement that is only gaining steam. As I said in my prior write-up on the order, if Ontario officials want to play tough guy, then they should go physically remove the truckers and clear the roads.

Returning to GiveSendGo, standing up and saying they aren’t going to abide by the order nor will they stop divvying out donations to the truckers is unequivocally the right move. As an issue of individual liberty, it is important for companies to not bow to tyrannical edicts without a fight. Further, GiveSendGo will almost certainly benefit financially by raising its profile and garnering more business in the future.

Still, I don’t expect this to be the last word. The wildcard here is what the United States will do. It’s entirely possible that Joe Biden and his bureaucratic cronies get involved in an effort to target GiveSendGo. If that happens, things get a lot more complicated. Still, I believe this is a fight the Freedom Convoy, its donors, and GiveSendGo are willing to wage until the end.

At the end of the day, the Canadian government should be made to use force to stop the protests. If that’s a risk they want to take, politically or otherwise, make them take it. But under no circumstances should they be given the easy way out, which is what this order represents.

 

Court gives 'Freedom Convoy' truckers until 7 to vacate Ambassador Bridge -- or risk possible arrest

A Canadian court on Friday told the anti-vax truckers occupying the Ambassador Bridge in Ontario are being given until this evening to vacate -- or risk potentially getting arrested.

CBC Windsor News 6 reporter Katerina Georgieva brings word that an injunction against the protesters occupying the bridge has been granted and will take effect starting at 7 p.m.

Additionally, the Windsor Police Department has put out a new warning to the demonstrators that they could soon be arrested if they don't leave the bridge.

"We are providing notice that anyone blocking streets or assisting others in the blocking of streets may be committing a criminal offence and must immediately cease further unlawful activity or you may face charges," the department said. "You could be arrested if you are a party to the offence or assisting others in the direct or indirect commission of this offence."

The police also warned the demonstrators that their vehicles could be seized, and said that any Americans who get arrested may be denied reentry to their native country.

Earlier on Friday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford declared a state of emergency in his province and issued a new order aimed at ending the truckers' siege of Ambassador Bridge.
